MANY wheelmen are not aware of the fact that after a few years use the inner tube becomes porous and will not long retain the air. ,In such cases a puncture is naturally suspected and the wheel is sent to the repair shop. It comes back little if any improved and perhaps the re- pair man is' wrongly blamed for slighting his work. A practical proof of what is here stated was given to a GUARDIAN representative the other day, when an inner tube, three years old and free from punctures was inflated and placed under water. Very small air bubbles rose slowly from all parts of lt, showing that it had become porous. MR. W. D. THB following additional particulars have been received of the death of Mrs. Malcolm Bruce which occurred at Oyster Bed Bridge on Thursday, 16th, lust., of one of Prince Edward Island’s oldest residents, a person who had only one year and seven months longer to live, ere she attended the century mark. The deceased, Mrs. Malcolm Bruce, was born and married in Scotland, and 'emigrated with her husband to this province in 1825. They settled at Mount. Buchannan and afterwards at Lyndale, where they resided nearly all through life's journey. Mr. Bruce died 89 years ago. For a number of years past Mrs. Bruce had resided with her daughter, Mrs. John A. Ross, of Oyster Bed Bridge. Tue decea- sed was converted under the ministry of the late Rev. Donald McDonald, and died trusting inthe merits of her Redeemer, She leaves three sons and three daughters; John M. The course will commence on \Vednesday, July 10th, and last for four weeks,Shortdailyleetures on the aims and methods of manual trainingwill be given but the time will he chiefly devoted to practical drawing and benchwork in con- nection therewith. The sehool contains an extensive collection' of examples of different systems of manual training, specimens of the various woods, leaves, etc., as used in the work of the school; and acomplete library bearing on the subject. The equipment for drawing and henchwork in the very, best and latest style, and everything necessary is pro- vided. The course is not intended to qualifypersons as teachers of the subject; but satisfactory work done during this period will be counted towards the work work of_theSpecial Training Course of six -months' duration. There are no fees whatever in connection with the school; and all teachers are eligible for admission. Every application should, however, Le made by persons desirous of attending, as it is anticipated that a good ' number will take advantage of the course.
