Congratulations are due to all to whom credit is due for the excel- lent foundation under a. very fine paving job on the Trans-Canada highway. which passes through this village. The consensus of opinion is, however, that had this great work to be repeated. con- siderable expense would have been saved by diverting the course thereof from a point north-west of Hampton School, via Victoria Bridge. It is presumed that the present action of officials of the P. W. Department. in removing the plank from this bridge, is in response to a largely signed peti- tion by owners of adjoining lands, that the bridge and approaches thereto, should receive immediate repairs, thus making safe and convenient this route to the near- est shipping point. where motor vessels call spring and fall to load glib potatoes and other farm pro- uctl.
