Lowe has been accepted for the new pork packing establishment to be erected at the eastern end of the city by the Messrs. Rattenbury. The work is to be completed by November. We have not heard the amount of their tender. Received His Rewarp.—Mr. William Sharp Larkins, Alberton, has been ap- pointed Captain of the Dominion Dredge in the room of Captain Macdonald, who was dismissed for political purposes. Pacts Race.—The two year old stake of the Maritime Province Colt Stakes having failed to fi!l has been declared off, and the promoter in response to a number of demands, has decided to substitute therefor a stake for pacers eligible to the 2.45 class, mile heats, 3 in 5. First pay- ment, $5, due June 1, when entries close; second payment, $10, July 15, when horses must be named; third and _ final payment, $5, Auguet 10.
