Unfortunately _ these letters were not signed by their respective authors, thus we will be unable to know if we have _ fully addressed the concerns raised by these people. | However, the invitation to you as well as the entire '_ student body remains open to drop into the Barn to _ chat, volunteer, help out, and/or express any con- ' cerns. _ Atthe January 12th Student Union Council meeting _ Jo-Anna Murphy, President of the SU, brought for- _ ward the motion to implementa ‘‘building fee’’ of _ $5.00 per year per student. This money would go _ towards anew and more efficient Student Centre that _ would be located in Blanchard field. The motion was _ moved and seconded. It was then open for discus- sion. Cory Large, student senator, stated that we _ should take it to the students to see if this is some- _ thing that they would want to participate in. More discussion was held on what would be involved with the centre. Heather Love, General Manager of the “SU, highlighted what has happened in past years when the question was posed. Following much debate, the motion was moved to be tabled till the next council eeting so that allelected councillors could spread _the word and get feedback. Everyone had the opportu- nity and has the responsibility to speak out in favour x rin opposition to anything that is discussed or fteported at council meetings. The next council meet- g willbe on February 16th, 7:00pm at Kelly 210, nd this motion will again be brought to the table and More discussion will be had. The council meetings 4 re open to all students. In the January 23rd edition of the X-Press there was n advertisement on the last page for ‘‘*MONEY!”’. It as actually asking for students input on whether or hot they wanted to participate ona building fund fora hew Student Centre, However, the present Student Union Centre was not mentioned asa place to express leas. Also, the advertisement was not presenting a ‘Straight forward question. ; respond to letters directed to us through the avenue of | University of Prince Edward Island STUDENT UNION INC. —-, We would appreciate any further concerns or ideas be brought to us directly at the Student Union so that both parties can come to some conclusion.
