TheatrePE]I will be holding its annual New Voices Playwriting Competition again this year with the deadline for entries February 1 6th, 1998. With the help of the Department of Education, they are pleased to announce the new categories of best English and French high-school plays. Each prize for these new categories is $100.00. Rob MacLean, Artistic Director for TheatrePEI says “Its really great to be able to reach out into the high-schools with these awards. Very often that’s when artists start their writing careers and we hope to get a lot of entries from high-school students all across the island.” The other prizes are the Seaman’s Beverages $1000.00 award for best full-length play; $400 for first placed one-act play; $200 second place one-act play and $100 third place one-act play.
