day on his way to? Halifax, where he will
exhibit the Pitts road roller which he
recently sold to Charlottetown. The

TOURISTS and persons bent on

noon at 3 o’clock to Orwell and return for

These are delightful outings, as they give

YESTERDAY morning the S. S. Polino
which arrived in port the evening before
sailed for the Sydneys and Sl'.John`s, Nild.
The Polino had a large general cargo in-
wards. Her outward cargo included 100
barrels pork, 150 pkgs groceries and 500
bags potatoes and oats together with a
deckload of live stock. Mr. J. H. Henry
was a. passenger for St, John`s. Nlid. and
Mr. H. Lapthorne and Mr. J. Simmons
for Sydney.

J OHN PHILIP Sousa is home again, and
he promptly contradicts the report that
his tour abroad has not been profitable
financially. It is good to hear that the
glory he achieved in foreign parts is ade-
quately supplemented with ducats. The
only occasion where he seems to have
failed to be suitably recompenscd was at
the dedication of the Lafayette and Wash-
ington monuments in Paris, under Ameri-
_can auspices, when he gave the services
~ of his band gratuitously. It appears that
his countrymen over there forgot even to
thank him.-Boston Herald.
THE death took place on Sept. 7th,of
Angus McLeod, a respected resident of
Melville, Lot 60. A telegram was sent to
H? Q E the three sons, Messrs. John M. McLeod,
John G. McLeod,and Samuel C. McLeod,
of New Bedford; but owing to a delay in
the forwarding of the message at_New
Bedford, they were late in leaving and
when they arrived home the remains had
been laid to rcs“. Mr. Daniel McLecd,
who also lives in New Bedford, arrived
home and nursed his father, doing all
possible to comfort until the angel of death
John M.McLeod returns home to-morrow.
