Of this number 550 are males and 14.5 females. While this number ts about 200 greater than at the same time last year, Mr. Earle Cannon. office manager. said that conditions here are better than in most parts of Canada. Most of these are sea- sonal workers normally employs-vi in farming, fishing or construction work. Previous to the last two or three years the lumbering indus- try in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia used to absorb most of the surplus labor from P. E. I. farms and fishing centres but now there is no work for men in the woods at all. Mr. Cannon said that construc- tion work is probably at an all time high in this locality, which prevents the situation from be- ing much worse.
