That unpretentious winter vehicle, the box sleigh has probably not hitherto re- ceived that measure of public attention to which it is entitled on the ground of its general utility and the special services for which lt is adapted. It aifords the means o! conveyance for passengers or for iner- chandise, or for moderate sired animals, in limited numbers. And one box sleigh in its time plays many parts. It may go as swiftly o`er the snowy roadway as the dest cutter or the more elongate! pung. That is a mere question of motive power, made up of horse and-whip. Its lofty sides aiford shelter against the winter winds. Well littered with straw, and supplied with robes enough, it may afford a world of comfort to one or two pairs of lovers on a winter evening drive.
