How do you schedule two men’s intercollegiate soccer games, one women’s inter- collegiate field hockey contest, a senior women’s soccer tourna- ment, and the annual Irene Ferguson Field Hockey Tourna- ment on MacAdma Field this weekend? ‘With great diffi- culty” was Ed Hilton’s re- sponse as he prepares for the upcoming weekend at the local university. Both Barb Mullaly’s Field Hockey squad and Andy Cameron’s Soccer side have important encounters as they prepare their teams for the first home games of the young 1986 season. Cameron has a double header to prepare for as he faces Acadia at 4 p.m. Saturday and then the ever powerful St. Mary’s Huskies Sunday at 2 p.m. Mullaly’s Field Hockey team has the single encounter with St. Mary’s Belles at 12 noon on Sunday. The Soccer Panthers, fresh from a highly successful week- end in Nova Scotia where they recorded two shut-outs, hope to open their home schedule with two more, but the ever cautious Cameron says, ‘‘Sure it would be easy to take Acadia for granted and only prepare for the very tough Huskies, but that’s not our style. Every game is going to be tough and we’re committed to the old clinche of one game at a time, no more of this looking ahead stuff. Besides, we have alot of work to do, we scored only one goal in two games, that’s not going to scare anyone and it won’t win games ant that’s what we’re trying to do.”” Mullaly’s squad also had difficulty on offense but is not discouraged. ‘‘We played very well against Dal, but were hot and cold in the St. F.X. game. However, I’m confident with another week of practice and only one game this weekend, we'll be ready and could sur- prise the very strong Belles of St. Mary’s.”” Besides the intercollegiate action, the University is once again hosting the annual Fer- guson Tournament that brings together five Island High Schools for two days of com- petitive and exciting field hockey action. IThe tourna- ment is so named as Irene The SPA West Located in the Charlottetown Mall 566-1400 Student Memberships PORTS S Action Galore on UPEI Campus Ferguson introduced field hockey in Island High Schools 25 years ago and has produced numerous outstanding players since that time.
