ARTS * 8b ENTERTAINMENT Transition House drama For those who may have wondered what life is like in a transition battered women and their children, the latest lCT Performance Group’ production “Dreamgirls” will provide lsland audiences with an opportunity to discover something of that extraordinary experience. “Dreamgirls” by playwright and house for poet Janis Rapoport will be staged at Confederation Centre on Nov. 28th and 29th. Deborah Allen, known well actress. director and broadcaster, is directing “Dreamgirls”. Fea- tured in the cast are Laurel Smyth, Beverley Lalande, Louise Larocque, _ Sharlene MacLean, Nancy Minard a a “ t. .2? . We -.~ ,,l. ‘x r and Mac Ames. They portray characters from a variety of back- grounds forced by personal crises to seek sanctuary in a transition house. Their individual stories, ‘ although often harrowing, are all too familiar in this setting. The overtaxed resources of the house provide a constant challenge to both staff and residences. The range of personalities and social backgrounds leads to encounters that are sometimes abrasive and often humourous. Curtain time for “Dreamgirls” will be 8:00 pm.
