From the Editor I would like so welcome all students returning to UPEI for the upcoming year. I would also like to extend a special welcome to the 1989-90 frosh. For these of you who do not know, the Gem office in lccated in the basement of Main bui!d- ing (the newly renovated building bezide the caf). Layout night is scheduled for Tuesday evenings at 6:00. If you enjoy free pizza and lots of laughs (and a little work), hen why not drop it? Submissions for The Gem are welcome from anyone (including aculty) and can be dropped off in the envelope outside the Gem of- fice door. Don’t forget to submit to “Five-Lines-tor—-Free”! “Five Lives—-for-[ree” is a great way to sell books, advertise lost articles or to say hello to that certai someone anonymously! (And fo free!!) My office hours will appear in a later Gem, after I get my sched- ule figured out. If you have writing talent, like to sketch, or cartoon, then why not submit some of your work to The Gem. We need you!!! If you have never been involved in a school paper, drop in and see what it is like, you might be sur- prised! Hope you all have a great year!
