AIIIIUOI Coroiiaiion Night At Prince The annual Coronation Ball held at Prince of Wales College last evening was highlighted by one of the loveliest and most impres- sive ceremonies ever witnessed in that auditorium. Students who had looked in at four-thirty in the afternoon, seeing only a basketball game in progress. and a group of tired looking students groping their way through a maze of crepe paper, tacks, Scotch tape and ladders. ,were amazed at the transformation iii few hours later. Red, white and blue streamers, in what seemed to be the thousands, were festooned former student of Prince of Wales. now our Premieer. the Honour- hble A. W. Matheson. who had kindly consented to officiste. The Royal Family then made their en- trance to the strains of the col- lege song. "Memories of old Prince of Wales". Leading the procession were two tiny flower girls, Aiiitzi Maclsaac and Mary Bernard. who were arrayed in long dresses of pink and white. and carried bou- quets. They were followed by two small page-boys. Peter MaCKlnll0n and Jamie Kennedy, who were 'dressed in purple and velvet suits and carrying the royal crown. Directly preceding the King and Queen, were the Prince, Jack Wil- liams. and the Princess, Miss Con- nie Chandler, who looked like a fairy-taleuprincesa in a gown of pale blue. Finally, the royal couple, Miss Kathy Craig. and Doug. Cud- more. made their long awaited zip- peearance. the Queen, truly regal and radiant in sparkling white. aka wk or ' Bail Held Last ' of Wales College The entire party ascended to the stage, where they were met by the Premier. The first page carried the King's crown to him. and he plac- ed it on the head of the new King of Prince of Wales. A second page bore the Queen's crown, and it. in turn, was placed on her head. Following the coronation. the Royal Family were the recipients of many beautiful gifts, made pos- sible through the courtesy of th following firms: R. T. Holman, Burns Jewellers, Wellners. Moore 6: Maclseods, Stands Pharmacy, Red- din Bros, Prowse Bros., Potter- by the King and Queen, in which they thanked all who had made this pleasant affair pouible and so successful. Next, seated on the steps of the stage, the Royal Fam- lly received the homage of Pre- mier and Mrs. A. W. M-atheson. members of the faculty and the student body. Dancing followed. led off by the Royal Pair and their attendants. not the least of whom were the little flower-girls and pages. Music for the evening was supplied by air 99” the ousranir rage a Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1954 the Downtowners. Chsperones included Mr. Tom Lothlsn, Mr. and Mrs. Did Mathe- son and Mr. and Mrs. Earl won- nsoott. At the close of the evening. stu- dents were unanimous in declaring the affair one of the best ever staged. The secret of the King's and Queen's identity was cleverly kept, which added to the general in- terest. The social committee are to be congratulated on the suc- cea of their efforts.
