*. ~ se ae mee THE DAILY EXAMINER. ; WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1892. Baby's First Christmas. H ing up the baby’s stocking— Be sure you don't forget, Tie dear little dimpled darling Has never seen Christmas yet. Bint I told him all about it, And he op ned his big blue eyes; I'm sure he understood it, He looked so solemn and wise. Ah, what a tiny stocking ! It doesn’t take much to hold Such little toes as baby’s Safe from the frost and cold. But for the baby’s Christmas It will never do at all, Sapta Claus would never look For anything half so small. I know what will do for baby; I’ve thought ot a first-rate plan, I'll borrow a atocking of grandma, Phe longest that ever I can, Aod mother shall hang it by mine, Right in the corner—so, And write a letter for baby, And fasten it on the toe : “('d Santa Claus, this is a stocking Hung up for our baby dear; You never have seen our darling; He has not been with us 4 year, Bat he is a beautiful baby! And, piease, before you go, Just cram this stocking with presents From the top of it down to the toe.” 2+ @+e—— That Christmas Money. lu the next few weeks people will talk Christmas more than all other subjects combined. And very many will count their pennies to see if they will go around. And some will realize for the countless things offered for sale *‘that money talks.” Yes, and many @ poor tired clerk will wish that they too could talk—back. To give un- seltishly without thought of return is the true Christmas spirit ; but how many times. oh human nature, will the thought oceur this month **Now if I make so and so a Christmas present, wonder if 1 will get a return next year.” The growing Christinas present custom comes hard among certain classes, who do not’ always have plenty of ready money; among farmers and people near towns, who keep poultry, the egg supply is » great source of Christmas money, because prices are always very high at this season. If the old hens will only shell out the eggs now, thinks many a mother, I can soon get back al) the money taken for Christmas, The surest way we have heard to get it back is this: E A Hubbard of Hatfield, Mass., says, ‘About one year ago I sent $5 for six cans of Sheri- dan’s Condition Powder to make hens lay, and in January my twenty-eight hens laid twenty-nine dozen eggs. I have sent $6 this year for six more cans and the Farm- Poultry monthly.” Certainly that Christ- mas money came back in short order. Mrs. Warren Delano, Hampden, Me., said re- cently to the manufacturers of this wonder- ful Powder, “I send $6 for Farm-Poultry two years, and six large cans of Sheridan's Powder. Itis the very thing needed. Last winter my hens did so poorly | almost lost heart, but this year 50 hens have cleared me $125.00. ‘‘All for a little courage and Sheri- dan’s Powder, her hens paid ber more than double the average usually allowed per ben, so that her Christmas money returned manyfold. Husbands, a word to the wise is sufficient; Make your wives » Christmas pre- sent of six cans of Sheridan’s Powder and take no other. For 50 cents 1 S Johnson & Co, Boston, Mass, will send two 25 cent packs; five pucks for $1.00; or for $1.20, one large 2} pound can of Powder, _— six cans for $5.00, express prepaid.
