tions of great importance to all the
Maritime Provinces; and the Govern-
ment of Nova Scotia ‘prepared a brief
on the subject for presentation to
the Duncan Commission which is one
of the most masterly and exhaustive
documents that has ever been pre-
pared. It is so exhaustive, so com-
plete, that at the presentation before
the Duncan Commission I contented
myself with associating this Province
with Nova Scotia in that presenta-
tion. 'I"ha.t was one way of co-oper-
stlng with advantage to this Pro-
vince; and it ls only by eo-operating
in every way that we can expect to
achieve results. Because we can rest
assured of this, that Ontario and
Quebec are no_t looking for increased
subsidy. It does not interest them
in tho least. I know that from per-
sonal knowledge and experience. 'I
know that when the Western provinc-
es are settled with. then theyl get
their net resources and their sub-
sidy. they are _not going to be very
greatly interested, notwithstanding
ill their protestations of lnterestiand
lympathy. Now, if we stand out iand
gnore the other two Maritime Pro-
vinces and go to Ottawa alone, b am
