Sin,—I was somewhat surprised ¢a reading your ed.torial of the 23rd_inst., which stated that, as a result of wire- pulling in the first district of Queen’s, Nic. Campbell had received the nomination of the Conservatives in ihat district, As a matter of tact vhere was no wire~pulling, and I can assure my friends that the Gon- vention in no way slighted me, buton the contrary offered me their best services did circumstances permit me to accept the nomination. The second paragraph of the editorie! in question which reflects on Mer. Campbell, is uncalled foras Mr. Campbell! rendered the country good services in the past and may do 80 in the future, if retarned. So far as | know, the Conservatihe press refrained fom reflecting in any way on the character of the Liberal candidate andl we might reasonably expect The Guardian to be as courteous as they in this respect. Bv iaserting the above vou will greatly ovlige. Yours, &c., D. B. McLrop.
