SCOTT-A very fine lec- ture was given by Rev. Mr. Jeans in the Presbyterian Hall, Summer- side on the land of Sir Walter Scott. Lantern slides of historic places and beautiful country scenes made the lecture more interesting. The entertainment was opened by a piano duet by Miss Helen Peters and Mrs. Lelth Smith. The lecture was in keeping with the centen- nla! celebration of Sir Walter Scott. The lecturer also referred to Bobbie Burns and Thomas Carlyle. The heroes of Scotland were mentioned by the speaker and several beauti- ful old castles were shown. Rev. Mr. Jeans called his lecture "Scot- 1and," and he ls well able to speak of his old home land, and his hear- ers very much appreciated the in- sllght/ he gave them into the land of their forefathers, as the audience was mostly of Scottish descent.
