Strong.-S. -HORSE SAVED -What could have been a very serious accident occurred on January second when George W, Ellis of Mount Royal, about two miles from O'Leary. w.-is jogging his mare on the ice at Lt-ard's Mill Pond. While turning up the head of the pond, the ani- mal plunged through into about five feet of water, breaking con- siderable ice, but she could not get out. Meeting -The-annua-l meeting of the Brae United Church was held on Friday afternoon, January 4th in the church with the rnlnlsler. Rev. W. G. Dickson of O'Leary presiding. The minutes were read by the secretary-treasurer, Fred W. MacLeod and were adopted as read. The report of the secretary-treasurer showed that the minister's salary was paid. also the denominational fund. such as pension. Presby- tery. conicrcnee and manse funds. The insurance on the lovely lit- tle rural church was doubled dur- mg the year as recommended by the official board of the 0'Leary pastoral charge of which Brae ll a part. The Missionary and Mainten- ance Fund allocation of one hun- dred and twenty dollars will be reached when the books close for 1951 the last of this month. Mrs. Ivey MacFadyen reported. Of that total, 364.00 was donated by the Brae Young People's Union. In addition the Brae raised 311.20 for the British and Foreign Bible Society and Coleman rais- ed 023.i-o for the same good cause. For the Cancer Fund 53100 was contributed.
