The people of Charlottetown, always
generous toward worthy public objects.
have responded iiobly to the claims of the
Monument Fund as has been shown by
the names and subscriptions published in
these columns. The result is a total of
something over two thousand dollars.
The Provincial Government. and the City
Council have yet to b: heard from. A few
persons outside the City and about the
Island and a few Islanders abroad have
been heard from in a spirit of liberality.
i We hope yet to hear from many more of
these in a like spirit.
