It is the showman who locates in one place that is apt to lose track of this far-reaching truth, and if my experience has counted for any- thing, if the success of Luna Park and the Hippodrome might be used to point out auy kind of a moral, it would be that before the people’ got tired of being fooled we were tired of fooling them in that par- ticu!ar way and had brought out a new bag of tricks. Let me explain at the beginning what I mean by ‘‘fooling the public. There isu’t any other business that know of where you are really expecteä to ‘‘fool” the people who come to you and where there is a just ground for complaint unless you do.
