MEM DOG’S WHINES SOLVE MYSTERY HARRINGTON, Del., May 3-F0l- owing their dog into the cellar of an abandoned and partly ruined house on the Delmar road, two sons oi U. Grant Nicholson made a discovery that led to a partial solution of the mystery surrounding the disappear- ance ten years ego of Mrs. Ann Maloney, who at that time lived alone in the house. The boys were attracted by their dog whining as if he had discovered ‘en animal. and when they reached their pet it was pawingat the ground. Lighting some matches the boy_v_ found what looked to them like human hair protruding through the earth. '1‘hs_boys ran home to their father, who summoned neighbors, and the men, with spades and picks, soon disinterred a human skeleton to tho skull of which the hair was still fast. On examining it Dr. _J.B. Strickland, who lived here at the time of Mrs. Msloney’s disappearance, decided it was hers and showed the farmers a mark on one of the bones which, he aid, had been made by an axe. At the time Mrs. Maloney disap- nsared it was thought that she had been murdered for her money and a was discharged when no trace of the woman could be found, and the be- ‘ief grew that the woman had mqved :remiss vicinity, as she has talked .,»_ l i .
