Mre. Walter M. Lea has return- to her home in Victoria, alter spending the winter months very pleasantly with relatives in Strath- gartnay, Murray Harbour, Char- lottetown and Moncton. The Scripture lesson from Acts l2. verses 5-11 was read by Kathleen Keough and a recitation. A Secret. was given by Roma Sherren and the collection was taken up by Betty Bruce. A song was then giv- en called Busy Bees by members of the Band. The roll call was answered by a goodly number and minutes of last meeting read and approved and the Treasurer's Re port given. The Study Book was in charge of Miss Freda Howatt. The closing Ritual brought the meeting to a close after which a treat was provided by Mrs. Allison Lea the Band Leader. On Tuesday evening April 20th. a shower was held in Victoria Hall in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Rich- ard Howatt who were married re- cently, Mrs. Howatt being former iy Miss Marguerite MacDonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon MacDonald. Victoria. There was a large number of friends and neigh- bours present and the happy young couple were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents m- ciudlng sums of money. The hall was artistically decorated by gin friends of the bride, the gifts were opened by Miss Al-ba Boulter and Miss Adele MacEachern and the verses read by Miss Christine Mac- Leod. Miss Janet Howatt arranged the gifts on the table. After a de- licious lunch had ‘been served by the ladies present and the groom vigorously bounced. dancing was indulged in, music being supplied by Mr. Alan Boswell on the violin. accompanied on the piano by his mother. The groom is a returned man being a veteran of World War II so after wishing him and his happy young bride bon voyage on the sea of matrimony all wended their way homeward feeling they had spent a very pleasant evening. Mr. Arthur Johnstone pre- sented the popular couple with a gift of money. Mrs. McKay was the ieclplent of an address and presentation on behalf of the Long River Presbyterian Church choir, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Campbell represented the choir in this pleas- ant duty.
