As in the case of trade with the United Kingdom, the question of ocean transportation was important, and a representative of the Depart- ment in Montreal placed these buy- ers in contact with Canadian ship-' pers. ln order to get the traffic moving expeditiously, arrangements were made with the White star line for trial shipments to be made on two large vessels of the_Atlantic Transport line, a subsidiary of the White Star.
