N cholas held 'ltheir annual convention in Mont Carmel on Tuesday. October 10th. There was an afternoon and even- ing session and in spite of the heavy rain thera were about fifty delegates present. Mrs. Arsenault president of the Mont Carmel In- stitute presided. Mrs. Joseph Gal- lant of Mont Camiel read the ad- dress of welcome, which was re- plied to by Mrs. Anthony Gaudet o1.St. Nicholas. The reports from the secretaries of the different in- stitutes for the year were read and approved.. The election of officers then took place and is as' follows: Presdent, Mrs. Emest Gaudet, Bt. Nicnolas; Vice President, Miss Al- dcne Poirier, St. Nicholas; Secret- ary, Mrs. Anthony Gaudet, St. Nicholas. Miss Haszard, supervisor of Women's Institutes gave an ex- cellent demonstration of the art of stain removing. Supper was then served to the delegates by the lad- |ies of Mont Carmel. Guests at the ,supper were Rev. Martin Monaghan D. D., of Miscouche, Rev. Theodore Gallant, P. P., of Mont Carmel and Rev. J. A. Gaudet of victoria, 13.0. The evening session was taken up with an interest’ng program. by the women 'of the different Institutes, wh’ch included some very fine vo- cal and instrumental numbers. This was followed by addresses from Rev. Theodore Gallant, Rev. J. A. 'Gaudet and Mr. John Arsenault of 'Union Corner who all spoke very highly of the work accomplished during the year by the Women's Institutes of Prince Edward Island and particularly that of the Acadi- lan women of these three districts.
