Dear Editor In response to Peter Spierenburg’s letter to the Editor in the Feb. 13/91 issue I would just like to make a few points. Before writing a letter maybe you should read Cam- pus Women sometimes. The statement **‘The World is a beautiful place where everyone is happy and gay.’’ - This is the world as we are to see it if only women held all the power,’ was made by the X- Press’s own Editor in his editorial on Nov. 14/91. It was not found on the Campus Women’s page. Also this quote came from an unknown source or at least the Editor didn’t give aname as to say, Who said this. Secondly I don’t see a shouting match going on be- tween the Campus Women page and the Backlash page. Campus Women isa space for women to get information about themselves. It is not and never will be used to argue points made by the Editors of the backlash page. That’s what letters to the Editor are for. Tracy Smith Campus Women Editor. Dear Editor, In response to the letter to the editor in the February 13, 1992UPEI X-PRESS which was written by Peter Graham, from MYRONS:Peter, began his letter to the editor by stating he was going toshed some light on the recent events which took place at MYRONS. I presume after reading his article that he was so caught up inrambling that he forgot. He was to busy calling the writers andparticipants of the two previ- ously submitted letters: narrowminded, gutless, irresponsible drinkers, and immature adults who would shame their parents with their weekend antics. Well, obviously, Peter you must have the ‘“intelligence of a tomato ’, because it was stated m the first article that TracySmith wrote that she wasn’t even drinking (I guess a bar, lookingto make a fast buck, would consider people who don’t drink alcohol to beirresponsible drinkers). As far as gutless goes, | believe anyonewho SNEAKS up behind someone else and placesa chokehold on thatindividual to be much ~ more gutless then someone who doesn’t wish tohave ~ their name printed in a university newspaper. Al- though, I do agree, my parents WOULD BE appalled at the danger Iplace myself in everytime I walk into MYRON’S NIGHTCLUB. However, not because of my actions, but rather they would be appalled at thedanger the OWNERS and MANAGERS of MYRONS carelessly place mein, byhaving such unprofessionally violent employees working in positionswhich require both levelheaded thoughts, and actions. Peter also wrote the staffand management of MYRONS have open mindsand would love to discuss any and all problems, patrons may havewith their club. I personally went down with the suggestion themanagers *‘RE-EDUCATE’’, or‘‘EDUCATE” (there would be more educatingthen re-educating) their employees on the fine art of PROFESSIONALBOUNCING, because if they EVER knew they have now FORGOTTEN. Afterreading ~~ your article I see it was a wasted trip. Also in his article, Peter Graham stated, ‘“The use of foullanguage, disrespect for authority, and disrespect for fellow humanbeings is enough to sicken me’’ (it sickens me just to read thatstatement!). Of course this is also the same Peter Graham whosnuck up behind, choked, and threw to the floor a patron on January23. He isalso, the same Peter Graham who was yelling obscenitiestoward another NON-DRINK- ING female patron onthe sameevening. Isuream glad we have such well spoken individuals, with suchimmense respect for fellow human beings, pro- tecting us at MYRON’S. Peter also states in his article that simple minded people, such ast+_(0*0*0*__+ithe ones who frequent MYRONS, don’t understand how difficult it isto ““‘BABYSIT UPWARDS OF 600 PEOPLE’’. BABYSIT, who the hell doesthis guy think he is? He indicates in his article, that in theXINDERGARTEN called MYRONS, children should learn to respectauthority: MYRON’S AUTHORITY, and if you don’t you must be punished(no milk and cookies maybe)! This pun-— ishment, according to Peter,is supposedly FAIR, JUST, and QUICK so as not to ruin someoneelse’s evening (how thoughtful of our babysitters).Perhaps, — as UPEI students we should show thisparticular nightclub that we don’t appreciate their conduct. Weshould tell the staffand management of MYRON’S that there isnoneed to *“‘BABY SIT’ us little children anymore! They apparentlydon’t appre- ciate our patronage, and are obviously togoodfor — ourmoney, If you are privileged enough to be allowee UPEI X-P RESS February 2052 page §
