Among the guests that witnessed this
event were many girl friends that are at
taehed to Miss Winton by her constant
labor in the Methodist church and Sab-
bath School. Rev. G-GJ. Winton, of Sun
Antonio, the well known evangelical
worker, came to perform the church cere-
mony. The weddiug was beautiful in its
simplicity. Beautiful cut flowers, pink
roses predominating, adorned parlor
and dining room. Especially notice-
able waslthe elegant appearance of the
bride in her rich costume of white silk
softened with chi_H'on trimmings. The only
. jewel was a handsome diamond pendant,
the gift of the groom. After the cere-
N mony a daintily served wedding supper
was spread bythe mother and, sister of
the bride. In San Luis a_ large circle of
friends will give them a hearty welconie.

EASTERN NOTES.-The bad weather still
ontinues and it is certainly one of the
worst seasons ever met by our farmers.
_The violent gale of the 11th Sept. caught
the crops at a. critical period, and that
extensive and unprecedented atmospheric
disturbance felt all over the _western
Atlantic and eastern North__America. was
the precursor of a. period of bad weather
extending to the present time and giving
us a gale of wind on the 11th inst. which
left its marks here as _well as
elsewhere-and greater marks in twisted
buildings,stripped roofsand levelled fences
than ever the Island experienced before.
A greater amount of east and south-east
wind than usual prevails laden with mois-
ture from the Atlantic and creating period
of damp and muggy weather rendering
farmingoperations diiiicult, and the curing
and saving cf crops impossible.Crops that
should l-esccured weeks ago are stillin the
fields in an indescribable condition, and
many are endeavoring during the few
dry intervals to dig their Datatoes from
their muddy surroundings.--Rev. Mr.
Gardiner has arrived to take charge of the
East Point Baptist Chuth.-The remains
of the' late James McLauch1in were
buried here on Sunday the 16th inst'
` beside a son and two daughters who
