Jupi.ek Committe Meetinc.—A meeting of the Jubilee Committe of the City Council was held last evening. Delegates were in attendance from the various societies, and ;ali promised to do everything in their. ‘power to make the celebration a success. Mr. Blanchard, chairman of the School Poard, said that the teachers and children would participate in the celebration. It was decided that each society would take precedence in the procession according to the date of its organization in this city, and the representatives were requested to afford such information to the City Clerk as early as possible. Col. Moore was appinted Chief Marsha]. Owing to illness His Worship Mayor Dawson was unable to attend the meeting, and Councillor Nich- olson presided in his stead. The next meeting ofthe committe will be held on Friday evening next at eight o’clock. AND OTHER ITEMS VICTORIAN ORDER OF NURSES. A meeting for the promotion of the fund forthe Victorian Order of Nurses was held this forenoon in the old Legislative Council] Chamber. Those present were His Honor Lieutenant Governor Howlan, His Worship Mayor Dawson, Councillors Nicholson and Johnson, Hon. David Laird, L. L. Beer, Charles Palmer and W. L. Cotton, Esq’s., and Dr’s. Richard Jobn- son, J. I. Jenkins James McLeod, 8. R. Jenkins, Peter Conroy, F, D. Beer and Janes Warburton. His Honor the Lieutenant-Governor explained the purpose for which the meet- ing was called, and upon his motion Dr. Joknsoa was chosen chairman. The subject matter of Lady Aberdeen’s proposition was then discuseed by His Honor the Lieutenant-Governer, Mayor Dawson, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Laird, Mr. Beer, and Dr’s. Jenkins, McLeod and Conroy. The following reselution, introduced by Mr. Palmer, was unavimously adopted : Resolved‘ That so far as this meeting is informed by the statement issued by Her Excellency Lady Aberdeen of the nature of the movement to establish a Victorian order of nurses to commemorate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, this meeting is of the opinion that inasmuch as tbe scheme of anew Prince Edward Island Hospital, to be built and supported by voluntary contribution, was in contempla~ tion prior tothe promulgation of Her Excellency’s prospectus; and inasmuch as it has been decided that this scheme eliall be undertakev in commemoration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, therefore the object set forth in Her Excellency’s state- ment will, so far as this Province is cou- cerned, be largely, if not fully, accom- plished; and al ho igh in hearty sympathy with the movement set on foot by Her Excellency, this meeting does not now deem it advisable to commit itselfto any aefinite action in regard thereto.
