Social Ser- xico Convener reported a vast In Memoriam Mas. wmnirnnn MacCORMACl( The vicinity of Selkirk was sad- dened on Friday March 4 when it became known that one of its oldest and most respected ladies. Mrs. Winnlfred Maccormack had passed to her Eternal reward at the age of eighty-four. Although in failing health for three years. her death came -suddenly and unex- pactedly. Mrs. Maccormack was born at Monticello, the eldest daughter of Allan Hanning and Mary Mae. Donald. When very young she was bereft of her mother, mg for the home and instructing her younger brothers and sisters were assigned to her. In later years she went to the United States. living in Boston and Oklahoma where she made a host of friends and acquaint- ancas. Returning to her native pJrov- ince she married the late Archi- bald Maccormack and settled on a farm in Selkirk. where by her hard work and ingenuity together with her husband built up a fine home. In that home. aha was a modal wife and mother. Always endowed with kindness she shared hospitality with everyone who came the way. Possessed of a good christian spirit she was fervent in her re- ligion and charity was a virtue she loved to practise. some years ago her husband passed away and threa years ago her only son Allan was killed in an accident. amount of work carried on by her committee. a ' T by members and interested friends. A patient was taken care of for two month's ed by Miss Mary Doyle. RN, and Mrs Cyrerie McDonald. also of nursing profession. Boxes of cloth- ing were distributed and cod liver oil capsules procured and placed at the disposal of parents at re- duced prices. Twelve baskets were packed at Christmas. The trcasurer's report was read by Mrs. F. J. Delorie in the ab- St'ilCE of the Treasurer. Mrs. Law- rence Bntchilder. A small sum was on hand alter all obligations etc.. had been paid. Education Convener. Mrs. Alec. Arsenault reported visiting school. checking on attendance etc. 87.00 was voted towards school prises at the end of the school term. 315.00 was voted for Christian Doctrine prises given on Catechical Sunday. A sport circular was sent to school to try and counteract the reading of comics. Entertainment Convener reported two pantry salea being held. lunches were served at two parish sctivitiaa. two fruit cakes donated by Mrs. Ella Mcltinnon. one of the committee. were lotteried. The pro- ceeds from thesa activities were very satisfactory. Membership Convener. Mrs. Wal- ter Solomon reported 34 paid up members-The remaining 10 bring- ing in. their membership fee night or annual meeting. During her illness she was tenderly cared for by her adopted daughter, Mrs. Kenney who together with her husband and children did every- thing possible to comfort her de- clining years. Her funeral, which was largely attended. took place March 7. to St. Margarat's Church where Requiem High Mass was sung by her pastor. Rev. Father Mac- Donald. who also performed the obaequias at the grave. Then all that remained of a benevolent woman was laid to rest beside her husband and son. The pallbearers were: R. D. Macxtnnon. Hugh C. MacPhee, Joseph D. MacDonald, D. J. Maclnnls. Hugh J. V. Mac- Donald and Plus MacKlnnon. Funeral was under the manage- ment of Dingwell Bros., Souria. Macnougald. 11- year-old Bangor farmer was found Wednesday night in a shack which he had been in the habit of staying whild cutting pulp wood. It was reported that ha had left home about 8.q0 o'clock on Tues- day morning to go to the shack about two milaa from his homa. A dog which accompanied him. ra- turned to tho dwalling on the same avaning without his mastar. The late Mr. Macbougald w was a veteran of the R.C.A.F. quite often stayed overnight at the shack and it was not until the avenln of the following day that a two va year old son. ac- companiad by a neighbor began a search for the missing man. He was found in the shack with a gunshot wound through his chest. Dr. Burden. as coronar. decided that an inquest was unnecessary.
