Christmas At Falconwooil Hospital Paloonwood Hospital present- ed I. truly beautiful sight on the event of Christmas. with its de- coratlons both outside as well as the interior which were erected by a willing staff. who spent many hours in an effort to make this I truly happy ocaslon for the many patients of this Institution. The sincere thanks of the faculty and staff is extended to a very gen- erous public, who through their generosity of heart. contributed in such a splendid manner in time, talent, and material gifts which made it possible to have the pat- ients enjoy the true spirit of this Festive Season. on Christmas morning Santa Claus made his regular visit. to both the Male and Female divis- ions. and was heartily welcomed by each and every one of the patienu; who in turn thankfully received the gifts distributed by Santa, who, while distributing his gifts. sang appropriate Christmas Carols which needless to say were highly appreciated. The Christmas. and New Year dinners consists: of turkey and trimmings; with cmdy, nuts. fruit and ice cream to all. On December 12th. Mr. and Mrs. Horace McEwen held Devotional Service and rendered Christmas music. which was very much ap- preciaied. On December 18th. a variety programme was presented by the lone and only Jimmie Power. and 't.roop, consisting of Instrumental land Vocal music, stcp dancing. and readings. To make special imention of any one of the troop is needless as each number ren- dered showed talent and. were ire-ndered in a manner surpassed lby none and equalled by few. Jimmie was accompanied this year by the imitable Charlie Chamberlain. who as usual captiv- ated his appreciative audience by his many splendid vocal numbers. At the conclusion of the pro- gramme the troop served treats of candy, and fruit. to the pa- tienls. The fruit for this occasion was furnished personally by Mr. -Power land candy was generously donated by Messrs. De.B1ois Bros. and Mr J. C. Montgomery. On December l9th the Baptist Young People held Devotional Service, and rendered appropriate Christmas music after which treats were distributed to the pa- tients. On December 22nd, a sleigh drive was given the patients by the personnel of Occupational There- apy. and refreshments were serv- ed following the drive, On the af- ternoon of the 23rl, the patients were again entertained by the Occupational Staff in the Auditor- ium with a concert. and in the levening the staff of the Institu- ;tion was entertained also by the Occupational Staff. m On December Illst. a party was i I i given by Mr. and Mrs. Gurney for the entertainment of patients working on Falconwood Farm. B. - Six graduates of Mount Allison are at present studying at the University of London through the generosity of Lord Beaverbrook who in 1950 established at Mount Allison the Lord Beaver- brook Overseas Scholarships to give carefully selected students the bene- fit of a year. and in some cases two years, of post graduate work in London. Aznn Steel of Saint John. N. B. is now completing her second year in the field of Latin and Greek clamicai studies in London. Miss Steel was graduated from Mount Allison in 1048 with a magna cum laude degree in Arts and first class honours in English. She later re- ceived her M. A. degree in English from Toronto University and then returned to Mount Allison to compleie honours work in Greek and Latin. Elizabeth Brown. formerly of .Cam-pbellton. N. B.. now on leave i from the teaching staff in Halifax. VN. S.. was elected a scholar last year and is registered at the Insti- . tule of Education which is affiliated I with the University of London. Donald Cameron of Meadowville Station. N. S. a Science graduate of i950 who has entered the teach- ing profession. is finding his course in Education very worth while and London itself an inexhaustible field for study. Norman Eastman. an out- standing graduate of the Mount Allison School of Fine Arts is study- ing at the Slade School in London where, although guided by some of the best men in the field of Art of the day, he find: there is complete freedom of style. subject and medium for the strident, These students. in addition to academic work. are observing life and customs in London and are be- ing influenced by the older cultures of the Motherland as well as newer trends in these post war years.
