A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Stewart, the late Mr. Stewart was born at cross Roads 1ot_48, 56 years ago. 1-Ie lived there during his boyhood and as a young man came to the city to serve an apprenticeship at Bruce Stewart's. 'I'hnt was about 38 years ago and he has been with the firm for many years since. After completing his apprentice- ship he removed to Britfsh Colum- bia there he remained fcr a time when he returned to supervise the building of a standpipe in Sum- merside, for which the frm of Stewart and Co. Bruce had the contract. After the ccmpietion of this work he accepted a position with the firm with which he re- mained un-tll his passing. Starting in as a machinist, he showed marked ability in his chosen field and gained rapid pro- motlon. Approxmateiy 12 years ago he becam Jilant superintendent and had serve in that capacity since then. ‘He was an active member of the following lodges: The Odd Fellows, the Knights of P thies, the Sons of England, and t e Masons.
