BY a letter received in the city it is
learned that Mr. L C. Hall, the proprietor
of the Hotel Acadia, Grand Tracadie
Beach, is distributing ten thousand fold-
ers which are a great improvcme it upon
all previous issues. The cu‘s are very dis-
tinct and are a very distinct reproduction
of pictures tiken fcon Island scenery.
Many ofthe old _guests of the house living
in the Southern and Middle States are en-
quiring if Charlottetown cin be reached
via the Exposition and the St. Lawrence
on board steamer. In order to meet the
ditlicu lty Mr. .H111 cleaily defines the
route and it is expected that a large num-
ber will visit P. E. I. by the above route.
The red sandstone cliffs, yellowish
white of the beaches and sand dunes, blue
waters, and vivid greens and colors of the
herbage, Bowers and foliage of Prince
Edward Island,give a. strangely tropical
elfect to her northern scenery, and an
unusually clear atmosphere produces the
most wonderful effects; rivalling, lit is
declared by travelers, even the splendid
dawns, sunsets and starry and
moonlit nights of the Mediterranean.
The country people, originally drawn
from alien races, Sects and countries,
retain many of the ancestral traits,
traditions 'anal customs and will
be found frank, kindly and hos-
pitable to an extent seldom 4 met
with elsewhere. Villages largely inhabit-
ed by the descendants of such Acadians as
were not expatristed at the time ofthe
destruction of Grand-Pre, can be reached
and visited in a day’s excursion. A few
families of Micmacs, once the
strongest, fiercest and handsomest
of the Abenaquis ` allies of _ the
French generally visit the section in the
summer; and their camps, canoes, wood-
basket, porcupine quill, bead and birch
bark work are well wnrthy of not`ca
and patronage. Prince Edward beef,
mutton, pork and poultry have long been
justly noted for their splendid quality and
fine flavor; vegetables. abound and cannot
be excelled in quality. The sea, river and
shell fish provided arc sure to be in the
primest condition, and at the Acadia are
cooked to perfection, being considered the
specialty of the house. The milk, cream,
butter and cheese are always of the rich-
est, purest quality, and wild strawberries,
icious and abundant. The cuisine is. of
acknowledged excellence, and a splendid
spring, one of the main attractions of the
grounds, supplies all the water for drink-
ing, cooking, bathing and washing.
