The people of Murray Harbour were shocked to hear of the sud- den death of Joseph Bell, which occurred in, the Prince Edward Island Hospital on December 30, 1958. Mr. Bell was a veteran of World War One. He enlisted on the 5th of October, 1914 with the 2nd Serge Battery. He was al-! ways at his best when the going was tough and perhaps one of his greatest contributions to the war effort was the high standard of morale he created among his comrades. He kept in close touch with his buddies since the war atd will be greatly missed by them. He was discharged May 18, 1919. Lavie, gave a resume of the 1958 activities of - the fire department. He thanked all volunteer mem- bers for their splendid work at the fire calls during the year and also commended the citizens for their co-operation in keeping the streets clear and their general help during fire calls. He then went on to show the financial aspect of the depart- ment. from various froms of en- tertaimment the department real- ized enough money to finance the purchasing of equipment for town use in the vacinity of $1000.
