On Wednesday evening July 24th

over one hundred ol, tho young- people
of the surrounding districts assembled
at thair`home to bid farewell to their
son Percy who leaves shortly to take
up his military duties.
Mr. Edward McCarviiie was appoint-
ed chairman and after a few remarks
called on Mr. Johnjl. Mulligan, who
came forward and reed an address to
Percy accompanied by a beautiful
wristlet watch and well-filled purse,
presented' by John C. Gallant.
Percy replied in fitting terms and
thanked the people for their kindness
and thoughtfulness towards him.
Refreshments were then served af~
ter which the evening was spent in
music and singing patriotic songs.

Dear Friend:-Your friends are
gathered around you tonight. to bid '
you God-speed before parting from you
for to you and us this is no ordinary
parting. You are about to leave this
abode of peace where everyone you
met was a friend and well-wisher, to
cross the ocean to fight the foe in a -
foreig-n isnd.Your future surroundings
will no longer be quiet ones of pastor-
al life. but aimid the turmoil of milit-
ary preparation among strangers and
people of vastly diffe-lent character
