S CARMANGAY, the heart of the hnest spring wheat section in South- em Alberta, is going to capture a big share of the railway development in Alberta. J - CARMANGAY is situated at the strategic point on the Little Bow River where all rail- ways attracted to this fertile district must cross, thus giving the town a tremendous advantage as a shipping point. ' CARMANGAY will handle more wheat than any other point in Southern Alberta. A mil- lion bushels from the 1911 crop went through Carmangay. Half as much again is a conserv- ative estimate for 1912. _ _ . iiiii §EiMn CARMANGAY is the objective point of no less than four railway surveys to-day. Her four mammoth elevators are already unable to cope with the tremendous traffic of the dis- trict. Three new elevators are planned. CARMANGAY will not only be a great wheat centre, but is going to ship the immense out- put of first-class coal which underlies the entire district. Railway Development would alone en- sure the success of your invest- ment in C armangay. But Carmangay does not depend upon rail- ways alone for her expansion : three places of business to-day. Blessed are the pure » in heart, for they shall see God."-Hutt, SJ 8 POINTED SUGGESTIONS By Rev. D. W. Binder. The faithful performance of the wok which is st hand, however humble it may be, is the best commendstion and most likely to be the open way for the higher service and duty which is calling for its men of destiny. The lives of the great leaders of history give ample illustration of this and give witness to these axiomatic statementsi _He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much"; “whosoever hath, to him shall be given." Solitude is the most. effective school for the development of the character of those whose service is to be sign- ally. public. impressive, humbling, enriching solitude, where God is felt. The serrated, grooved and rugged grandeur of the hrlls of I-loreb, with their red, rocky peaks and epire-like summits, became to Moses the School of the infinite. Noble natures come into tune with God in such surround- ings. None are fitted to be the leaders of the people of_God who are not rever- ential with the consciousness of the uearness of God. The first and last and most important qualification for Christian leadership is reversed. Pos- sibly there is nothing our age needs more than that preachers and people, teachers and scholars should act under "the hush of God." An interesting and profitable Bib- lical study is the tracing of the rev- ealing of the presence of God in the Sheklnah light, the light that dwelt. between the charubim. Trace it from way to the tree of life to the clov- en tongues like as of fire which sat upon the heads of the partnkers 0 f Pentecost. It was, doubtless, the ure which hurnedbut did not consume the bush which Moses turned aside to God is the witnesser of sorrow, of the unjust amiction and damnable op- pressions of manluind. Make no mis- take about it. The agitator who fro- ths at the mouth telling of the woes of his fellows, as though God had resigned His seat and gone out of the world, i”~piously forgets this. It is not for the Christian man to for- get it. As surely as the Lord knew the cause, instrument, purpose and result of the sorrows of Isrcal in Eg- ypt, in like manner He fully knows from A to Z the wrongs, social pol- itical, industrial and religious of to- day and has His Moses in training. Anchestral worship has no defence. but the worship of the God of onc's ancestors has splendid justification in the appeal of the Almighty to Moses to trust him as the God of his fahher, and of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob. Did your par- ents worship God? Every man must show cause when he abandons the worship of the God of his fathers. Those who are best fitted to be- come the leaders of others and not of- ten, if ever, those who recognise in themselves the qualities for such leadership. The chief qualifications for leadership is the vr-illlngness to be led. Wonderful and awe-inspiring is the revelation which God mains of Him- self to Moses by way of telling him who he is, "I am that I am." “I am hath sent you." Over such a statement and under the lizht which admits of no shadow, of such a name let your spirit ponder and adore. Bot. ter still, trust and love, What ever burns and is never des- troyed? " Such Pharaohs-the grind- ers of the faces of the poor-are not all dead yet. But their graves are be- ing dug. V ' I The disc-ernment of Pharaoh was not far astray in this, that the idler and the agitator verv often wear the same ' smock. There is no doubt about it; 'much of the unwarranted trouble in the industrial world is the srawn of idleness. If labor unions, etc.. could kick themselves free from the brizandage of idlers umm their rifrhtn, their rights would not suffer blockage so often or so long. The lla _E | z?
