FEBRUARY. 21. 1899. . g t --f f 1 in THE NEW PUBLIC HOSPITAL- The very general interest in the new P. E. Island Hospital and the liberal donations and subscriptions that have enabled the contract to be ` let, have perhaps ° led to the conclu- sion in some minds that there is no- mattars take their course and pay the isubscriptions as they are called for during the progress of construction _` It ought to be generally made known " that the amount of the subscriptions ` list for the erection of the Hospital is barely suilicient to meet the cost of the contract already given. To place in the new building a modern and thoroughly complete heating and ventilating plant, such as will bc absolutely necessary in the P.E.I. hospital,- together with the requisite plumbing and electric light fittings, will entail an additional ex- penditure of about '$4,000. ' This amount is therefore required' in ad- dition to what is already subscribed. It will readily be seen that to com- plete the Hospital ready for occupa- tion by patients the heating, plumb- ing and lighting are as necessary as the walls of the building itself. And the time is approaching when provi- rsion must be made for these require- ments so that all will see the proprie- ty of contributing to the Hospital funds in any way in their power and to the best of their ability. There plete the hospital as above stated apart from the furnishing.
