Both Hanlan and Kennedy are in splendid condition. A large number of sporting men from different parts of the ceuntary are on hand. Both men are con- fident of winning, and if no postponement occurs, the race will be rowed on its merits about 5 p.m. The referee will probably be selected at noon to-morrow, from six well- known sporting men. Betting is 5 to 2 in favor of Hanlan. The Emperor and Empress of Russia have received the congratulations of the civil and military officials, mayors of cities and members of the nobility. Lord Wol- seley, representative of the British army, and ,Gen. Von Werder, German military envoy, attended the reception. Monsignor Vennutelli, papal nuncio, was presented to their majesties. Gen. Von Schwenitz, German Ambassador, will give a banquet to the German Princes this evening. A double tarnado swept by Clay City, Indiana, on the 29th. The extremities were a mile apart. At Meal’s mili a house was swept out of existence and six persons killed. A bridge was also destroyed and general havoc ensued. In a little settle- ment on the other side of its track five per- sons were killed, several houses blown to pieces and one child blown away. In all twelve persons were injured besides those killed.
