The defalcations amount to about four thousand dollars. The bonds for one thousand dollars each and over two years. The amount to be paid by the sureties is twelve hundred dollars for a full discharge. It will be remember- ed, at the time the defa)cations were die-~ covered, great credit was claimed forthe couscil for securing a mortgage from the Jate clerk and his father which sec ured them in an additional sum of one thousand dollars, This mortgage is now assigned to the sureites without any consideration beyord the twelve bundred dollars above referred to.
