ments had been served, the company
amused themselves with games and
social intercourse till a reasonable hour.
The interest taken in these meetings, as
shown by the numbers who attend, and
the generous collection, is a great en-
couragement to the few ladies who are
.~o anxious to make them a success. Be-
fore leaving. a hearty vote of thanks
was tendered Mr. and Mrs. Thompson
forthe trouble they had taken and for_
their kindness in opening up their
beautiful home. It is intended to hold
another “At Home” in the near future,

Death has again been very busy. Since
January 27th there have been three
deaths in Murray River. Ou January
28th, David,e1dest and last son of Mr.
Robert Sanders, passed away after
some months illness. In srven ‘
years. ~Mr. Sanders has buried ive
children, three sons and two daughters,
the eldest daughter alone remains. On_
February 11th, Mrs.Thorras Lowe, who
has been m failing health, had a» stroke
of paralysis, and died in si few hours.
Ou February 16th, Mrs. Din McLeod
died after an illness of several weeks.
At Gurnsey Cove, Mrs. McKay, widow
of the late John McKay, has passed
away. Also at the same place a few
days later, Mrs. '1`homas Gosleii died
of measles. And at Murray Harbor
South. the widow of the late Peter
Rob. rtson died. Most ofthese were old,
others were just in the prime of lite.-
With the knell of departing friends,
rings out the sound of wedding bells.
On Wednesday. oth, Mr. Henry Jor-
dan, of White Sands and Miss Janie
Hooper. Toronto. were made one, and
on Thursday, 16th inst.. Mr. Oliver
Beck, teacher of Toronto school, and
Miss Selina McLeod, Murray Harbor,
were united in marriage.-The sickness
seems to be dying out, though still we
hear occasionally of a new case of l_a
rippe or measles. ,
