So Revival of English Trade. coming to In these days of gloomy reports from the manufacturing centres of the Mother Coun- try, it is refreshing to read the following, which is a Washington, U. 8., despatch, re- ceived this morning : ‘‘ The United States Consul at Leeds, Eng., gives enceuraging reports of the revival of trade and manu- facturers in that district ; the woollen trade especially thriving. Customers from France and Austria are beginning to appear in un- wonted numbers. In the flax trade there is a marked improvement; flax machinery in considerable quantities is being imported from the United States. The coal trade continues depressed, the miners working only three days a week. **The Consul at Leith, Scotland, shows the agricultural interest of Scotland slowly adapting itself te the present condition of things.
