NOVEMBER 30, 2004 THE CADRE @ 19 Ryan McDermott UPEISU Chair of Council Thisupdate is actually from the meeting that was held on the 7" of November, so alot has happened since then, and I’ll make sure to keep everything posted. Reports President- Clare did not attend the meeting because she _ had mono.....yeah...mono.....but luckily she’s back and almost healthy again. VP Finance- hiring board held interviews on the 4" of November. ~The idea of having an on campus hair salon was brought to his attention. - A request was made out to various banks in regards to service charges. Exec VP- Ideas for Christmas fundraising are being looked at. - Tuesday the 9" there was a post secondary education forum with Shawn Murphy who is the Charlottetown MP. - Sessions will be held with Jocelyn Brown from the Credit Counselling Services of Canada for students to learn about debt/loan management. VP Activities - Mega room trivia was held on the 10". - Ryan Gallant has been hired as the new interim managing Council Update editor of The Cadre after the resignation of Sean Brady. - The Christmas Ball was planned for the 20° of November. - Later on in the meeting the Halloween Pub was discussed. BOG- Matt sat on the committee that was charged with finding a new chancellor. MAPUS - There was an attempt to set up a meeting in regards to the Senior’s College. Business - Business sent out a challenge to the other faculties for the megaroom trivia. -Ryan P. had the opportunity to attend and ACE conference at St. Mary’s. -Concerns were brought forth with the cooperative program and it’s lack of written curriculum. AVC- The AVC held a Halloween party. : - There was a meeting with SAVS to discuss projects for the up andcoming month. - - Fundraising initiatives are being looked into for a trip to Texas. - Photos of the AVC animals _ willbe going on sale sometime inthe . courtyard. Nursing - December 17", there will be the Nursing formal at the Confederation Center. - There was a good turn out for the Halloween party. _- This year, nursing will be sponsoring two families over Christ- mas. Arts - Music society raised over $3000 dollars with the haunted house. - The idea of a psychology minor was discussed with the appropri- _ ate individuals on campus and it was stated that there is not enough “man power” to accommodate such. Science - Constituency meetings were held by Jonny, Katie, Arlo. - Bar Wars is in discussion. - Arlo attended an engineering conference at UNB International Students - Concerns were brought up by international students over the voting with the last election and the lack of awareness that was broadcast across campus. - A general meeting was held on the 12". Education - There was an open house on the 15". : - A challenge has been set between education levels to collect food for the student food bank. was discussed as well as an all night movie event. That’sitfornow. There will benomore meetings held this semester, but council will be back on January 9", so stop in and see what’s going on.
