' _ On my _last trip to 'the Island, I could not but notice the marked change in public sentiment in regard to the fox industry. On my first vis- it, all was enthusiasm and the lndus- try was going through the spectacular stage and not a safe proposition. Lat- er on, everyone was "knocking" tihc industry and making sport of those who invested in companies capitalized at $20,000 per pair, and up- to only last month, the great majority seem- ed to think there was profit ln raising foxes on _a pelt basis, if the capitaliz- ation was kept ilown to normal, say $3.000 por pa.lr or under. At the Fox Breeders"ineoting in Charlottetown, March 15th, I wus surprised at the attendance, as well as the universal feeling that anything that stood for the bettering of fox conditions was of value not only to the ranchers as ii whole -but to each, individually, for as the industry prospers so each in- dividual rancher proilts and indirect- ly_ every resident of Pr-ince Edward island, for it is one of the IsIand’s largest and most profitable industries as managed today.
