Six years ago Mr. A. A. McLean and myself were
elected to represcllt you ill the House of Commons. As
the result of thc election then held the Libel°a1-Collsel°-
vativc party ctilne into power. During the years that
have passed sillcc then I have endeavored to the best of

governmental* advantages for my native Province. The
Goverlllllent of the party I was elected to support, has
done much for the bcttermellt of our trade and com-

if $100,0(lll alflllllzilly to our provincial subsidy, secured

to support Sir Robert Borden ill his endeavors to .unite

means of raising with the least possible friction the lie-
cessary recruits to go to the assistance of our hard
pressed brave boys at the front. - `
I am high1y_ gratified that a Union Government has
now been forilled. It is composed of the strongest men
of both parties and shall have my full support.
A_t the last session of Parlialllent an Act was passed
establishing machinery for the holding of a Dominion
election. It provided for the appointment of enumera-
tors to make up lists of voters for all the polls. These
will shortly be appoiilted. lllay I be permitted to request
_that every possible zlssistzlllce be given the enumerators
ill the pl'epan';~tl_oll of these lists, so that everyone in the
County, elltltlccl to it vote, shall have his or her .name on
the lists before polling' day.
_ In thus giving an account of my Stewardship, per-
mit me to state I shall be candidate for this Country
at the coming election. '
_ The crisis which involves our Country is the most
llllpo_l~tallt ill its history. It devolves upon everyo_lle to
consider well the issue raised: are the people of Cana-
da to leave ullsupported our brave boys at the Front,
who have so long and so well fought for the preserva-
tion of our rrgllts and liberties, and whose splendid
deeds of herolsnl have covered Canada with glory and
renown? It is impossible. ' _
