RAMSAY - There passed away on Friday at his heme in the Baltic. Mr. John 0. Ramsay. a. native of the d‘strict. S, employed. with the provincial government on highway construction for the past three years leaves today for Halifax. With the shelving of further hard-sur- faced construction for the present his work in this province came to an end. Earlier he had been employ- ed in a similar capacity with the Nova. Scotia Department of High- ways and was "loaned” to the gov- ernment here. He indicated his plans were not. definite bu-t. it was learned he might go to Newfound- land later. He is an asphaltic tech- nician. Mrs. MacDonald will remain in Charlottetown for a. short time before re-joining her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacL-eod and family leave on Monday to take up their residence in Breadnlbane. Prior to their leaving a farewell party was given them a/t the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Macheod, Hope-dale by friends and neighbors of Hartsvillie Hopedale and Hunter River. An address was read by Miss Isabel MacDonald to which Mr. MacL/eod and his good wife respond- ed. A purse was then presented to them on behalf of all present by Mr. Wesley MaicLean. MacNelll on Church Street. which is in the residential section of the town. The fire which was evidently caused by a spark from the flue. had gained some headway before it was discovered by some boys who were passing and saw flames coming from the roof of the fr the house. Thev immediately ran in and told Dr. MacNeill. who called Mrs. MacNelll had returned from ohuroh a. short time before. but had not noticed the re. 0n Saturday night about ten o'clock Summerside firemen fe- sponded to a call for a fire at the Dominion Hotel on Water Street. On the road between Charlottetown and Montague a. plow reached Pownal, openln about five miles of high- way. l winter the road had been open as far as Tea Hill, five miles from the city. On the St. Peter's Road a plow went only a short dis- tance before turning back. L. B. Mac- Neill after an illness of a few months. Mr. MacNeill was born at North Carleton and was the son of the late Gilbert MacNeill. He was 67 years of age and had resided in Denver, Colorado for many years. He. returned ten years ago to his native Province and has since re- sided with his sister. Mn. Donald Mathieson at Traveller's Rest. Mr. MacNelll was a quiet unassuming gentleman and was most highly esteemed by his many friends and acquaintances.
