Mr. George H. Steven- son. at the advanced age of eigh- ty-eight years. Mr. Stevenson was 'born on March 17th. 1868. and was the youngest son of George Steven- son Sr, and his wife Mary Jane Proctor. early residents of the dis- trict. Of a family of fourteen. he is survived by one sister Martha, Mrs. J.L. Stevenson. New Glas- gow. The late Mr. Stevenson was a successful farmer and will be grea- tly missed in the community, but especially in the church. which hel loved and where he laboured so faithfully as Sunday School super- 'ntendant. teacher. deacon and el-' der for so many years. He was always present at the Sunday morning service as long as health permitted and, if the minister was absent. would carry on in his stead. Many will re- II ember his voice in the service of praise. Might we not, in passing. note that his father George Sr. was also an e'dr-r for many years, and that his grandfather Elder John Stevenson of Paisley. Scotland, who emigrated to New Glasgow in the year 1820. was the found- er of the Church of Christ. in New Glasgow. in the year 1890. he married Maud Smith of New Glasgow. who was truly a wonderful help mate. Ilsa predeceased him twenty-sew on years ago, also an infant son. Ha leaves to mourn one son.” Hubert 3- in the old home and five daughters. Nellie. Mrs. P. N. Manuel. Miss Evelyn and Ester, lira. Otto Campbell . all of Char- lottetown; Edna. Mrs. Harold Bag- nali and Marion. Mrs. .Bordea Bagnali. both of Hazel Ciova. Besides these members of the family he leaves eight grandchil- dren and six great gs-asdoluldren. The funeral was held from the home on July 6th, where 'a large number of people from far and near assembled to pay ti1bute to a departed friend. The service was conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Bryer R. Jones, who spoke from the words "lf a man dis shall be live again?" The hymns sung were "Unto The Hills" and "Abide with me". The flowers from relatives and friends were many and beautiful. bearing their silent tribute of a loved one called Home. The pail bearers were Lorne Stevenson. Kenneth Stevenson. Eric Stevenson.
