Citizens Warned To Be On Lookout For Sneak-Thief The Guardian has been request- ed by Chief of Police Blrtwistle to warn citizens against the opos- atlons of a sneak-thief. On Tues- dny evening between 5 and 6 o'clock a. young lady returned to her residence on Upper Hillsboro Street, leaving her purse in the hallway. About 6 o'clock she heard someone in the hall, and was just in time to sec a man going out the front. door. Her purse, with about ‘$20, was gone. Sergeant Doyle and Police Officer McE ‘- investi- gated, and after much difficulty, following foot-tracks from the door, they found the purse where it had been discarded at the rear of a dwelling on Longworth Avenue- The money is still missing. This is the second ease within a fortnight of asmeak thief gaining eat to a residence and steal- ing money. The tracks were those of a man. The best way of prevent- ing a repetition of such thievery is to keep valuables in a safe place. The police are following up the case, and may be expected to do everything possible to put a mp to such practices. ' IN MEMORIAM IRVING A.
