4696 ROYAL GAZETTE. said meeting, in cases of equality, having a casting vote; and the names of the person so elected shall be entered in the Books of the Secretary, or other person having the custody of the same, who shall attend with the said Books for that purpose. V. All or any of the Trustees in Office, at the time of such election, shall be eligible to be re- elected. VI. In the event of a vacancy or vacancies oc- curring. by death, resignation, or otherwise, in the Board of 'I‘rtistees, it shall be lawful for the Trustees, at any of their meetings, to elect a duly qualified person or persons to supply the same; but should the vacancies, so occurring at any one time, be so numerous as not to leave a quorum, then such vacan- cies shall be filled up in the manner in which this Act provides for the annual election of Trustees, within thirty days alter theoccurring of such vacancy or vacancies. VII. Iftt should happen that no election of Trus- tees shall take place on the second Tuesday ofJanu- ary, in any year as aforementioned, then, and in such a case, the TrUsteesthen in otlice shall continue and remain in office for, during and until the expiration ofthe next ensuing year, unless a requisition, signed by at least twelve ofsuch persons as are qualified to vote as aforesaid, shall be presented to the Trustees for the time being, calling upon them to cause a meeting to be held for the election of Trustees, and of which meeting ten days notice shall be given; and such meeting shall be held in the manner and form as bereinbefore directed with respect to annual elections. VIII. The seal of said Corporation, and all books, papers, deeds, minutes, vouchers, moneys, securities for moneys, and all other property, and things ll] their care, custody and possession, shall be forth- with handed over by the former Trustees to the Trustees so elected as aforesaid. IX. It shall bethe duty ofthe Trustees to make all arrangements for the letting of Pews, imposing and collecting of seat Rents, to dispose of Church lands in any way they may see proper for the interests of the Corporation ; Provided always, that the said lands be never alienated from their original purpose, to keep the Church in repair, and impose such ex- traordinary assessments as may be required for re- pairing said Church, and in general to manage the secular affairs ofthe Congregation agreeably to the Constitution of the Church of Scotland, and subject to the approval and administration ofthe Ecclesiasti- cal Courts organized in this country in connection with the said Church of Scotland; and for the ac- complishment of these ends the Trustees may, in ad- dition to such meetings of the Board as may be necessary, call meetings of the Congregation, as occasion may require, after a notice of ten days, at which Congregational -meetings all persons qualified in the election of Trustees, as aforesaid, may Vote on all questions or matters brought before said Con- gregational meetings.
