Neclling Worries Ollawa Officials 0’I'TA\VA, Aug. l6—(CP)—-Civlc officials are perturbed about people indulging in the popular pastime of pitching woo and making pas- sion playgrounds out of Ottawa's public parks. Commissioner J. A. Dulude of the Playgrounds Department said today he has appealed to "rc- sponsible citizens" to crack down on riverside romancing. Mr, Dulude said that twice this. week he personally has seen and had “broken up" couples who were using a public beach for a spooning ground. There doesn't seem to be any age limit when it comes to neck- ing in the great outdoors. Mr. Dulude said the woo pitched at the swimming holes was done by people ranging in age from 10 to 60 "It seems that old devil never dies," the Commissioner remark- ed. adding hastily that "90 per cent of the offenders are boys and girls from ill to 22." Mr. Duiude confessed that it has him puzzled. "Sometimes," he said. "they'll try it in broad day- lightjsomctimcs at night-I can't understand it. Surcly any young- ster brought up properly would never do that sort of thing in public." That is what Mr. Dulude said. The Commissioner said he wants responsible citizens to aid the playground stalls in cutting down on the opcn-air love-making, So far, there have been no com- mcnts from the ncckers.
