Displaying an unbeatable game,
the Levin Fur Company turned aside
the Southport Mohawks 4-1 last
night in a pre-season league junior
game, played after the senior game.
Mel. Diamond refereed in his usual
splendid manner.
The first' period was distinguished
by fast play on thc part of both
teams, stellar goal tending by Mc-
Innis, and two fine goals by the
Levin Furs. The Levin defence was
stepping right into the Mohawks,
while the iatter's defence were us-
ing the elbow too much. From the
opening face-off, the Furs rushed
down the ice in beautiful three-man
combination, Gordon Stewart, Lev-
in'sieit wing, taking the final pass
to rifle home a beauty, making the
count 1-0. The Levin's second goal
was also a nice effort, Stewart, Levin
left winger, picking the puck at the
blue line and coasting in to have
Mclnnis at his mercy to make the
count 2-0.
The second period started off fast.
