McMURRER Mr. Lotus P. McMurrer died at Long Island, New York, on Satur- day, December 18, 1937, after l brief nines. Mr. McMiu-rer who was the son of the late James and Mary A. McMurrer, was born on the Green Road, Prince Edward Island on March 23, 1871 moving to Char- lottetown with his family at an early age where they resided on Grafton Street. He left the Island when quite a young man and lived in Boston for a number of years following his trade of machinist being em- ployed at. the Cliarlestown Navy Yard. He served tiie United States in the Spanish-American War of 1898, receiving an honorable dis- charge at. the close of the war. He lrtei" moved to New York and was employed for some time by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company. During the last eight years he held a responsible posi- tion wlth the City of New York in charge of producing cars for the subways. Mr. McMurrer visited the Is- land twice in recent years with his family and ‘was much impress- ed with the changes that had taken place sliice his early man- hood. The funeral took place from his late home a: Rldgewood Plateau on Tuesday morning. December 21, followed by a Solemn High Mass of Requiem at. St. Mary's Church. Winfield at 10 a.m. The musical portion of_the Mass was sung by his nephew, James Mc- Murrer. of Brooklyn, New York, a former student at St. Dunstans University. Interment was in the family lot at St. John's Cemetery. The great esteem in which he was held was attested to by the very large number of spiritual and floral tributes received by his family.
