E. hb, occurred suddenly on Monday morning, April 20th, 1959, when he was fatally injured by a falling chimney while fighting a fire at the home of a neigh- bour. Born at Kinross 66 years ago, Mr. MacLeod was a carpenter by trade and for the past 33 years was also local Post-Master and operated a grocery store which served the people of Kinross. Mr. MacLeod who was ever in the House of Prayer on the Lord’s Day, faithfully identified himself with the work of the Church. He had an unfailing interest in all that pertained to the welfare of the community. He was always ready to stop and chat awhile or lend a helping hand to any one who called upon him. He was loved and respected by both young and old. He leaves to cherish his mem- ory, his wife, the former Mae MacPherson of ‘Dundee, P. E. I. Three sons, Stanwtod ‘in Al- bany, P. E. I. Edward in Vernon River, P. E. I. and Weston in Burlington, Ontario. Two sisters, Jessie, Mrs. Murdock MacPher- son, Dundee, and Ruth in Wav- erly, Mass. He. is also survived by eight grand children. On Wednesday, April 22, fol- lowing a short service at the home, the Funeral Service was conducted from Orwell Head United Church, by his pastor, the Rev. F. MacKinnon, assisted by Rev. Donald Nicholson, Belfast, and Rev. Norman Green, Vernon Bridge. A large congregation ga- thered as people from far ° and near came to pay their last re- spects to a friend and loved one. Hymn's sung were, “Unto the Hills,” and “Abide With Me.” A duet,, “Beautiful Land.” was beautifully sung by Lloyd Martin and Malcolm, MacLean. Numer- ous floral tributes, cards and letters from friends and relatives were silent testimonials of the esteem in which heewas held. Pali bearers were D.\G. Gillis, Harry Lavers, Lloyd, Robbins, Hugh MacKinnon, M. F. Mac- Leod, and V. K. Sanderson. Flower -bearers were: Lloyd MacDonald, David MacDonald, Keith MacLeod, Judson Musick, Ewen MacLeod, John MacKin- non and Chaflie MacKinnon. Interment was in Orwell Head Cemetery.
