The Mary Florence is six years old, and about 50 tons burthen. An Examiner reporter saw Captain Chipman this morn- ing, and obtained the following informa- tion : The Mary Florence loaded with coal in Pictou on Saturday last. On Sunday morning she left for Vernon River, but, as a strong north-easterly gale was blowing, she could not get into that place. They then made for Charlottetown, for shelter, when, outside Charlottetown harbor light, they found that the schooner had sprung aleak, The pumps were manned, but with little or no effect. It took the schooner about two hours to get to the wharf, and all this time she was gradually sinking. When off Connolly’s wharf they got their boat out, and rowed to the slip. As svon as they reached it, the schooner sunk in about three fathoias of water. So tar, the captain is not able to locate the leak, but thinks one or two of the butts have sprung open. While at Pictou, he had the schooner on the slip and overhauled, and she was pronounced all sound. There is no insur- ance, or Local Notices.
